Linksys ddns not updating

Rated 4.14/5 based on 969 customer reviews

DD-WRT provides a set of predefined configurations for the most common DDNS services. After choosing from one of the predefined DDNS services, you have to provide the "User Name" and the "Password" for the account of your DDNS service.(Note: no "-a" for the first host name.) With url updates, the client program usually submits a request using the hypertext transport protocal (HTTP) to a DDNS Server. The request may contain your requested hostname (your dynamic domain name) and/or your IP address. If these instructions do not help for your particular Link Sys router, please consult the routers manual or call Link Sys support to determine if your router has DDNS capabilities. If your Internet connection has a static IP address, it is not necessary to configure dynamic DNS service.

Name Translation is the process of relating a name (like ' to an IP address (like '74.1') so that a website (or other service) on a computer can be accessed using an easily remembered name, rather than the IP address number of the computer.

2) The Open DNS Updater is showing my IP address as something completely different than my router is showing (router: 1.176, Updater: .33) What's up with that?

The setup process ould be similar or the same for all Link Sys routers that support DDNS.

From what I can gather this is a problem with this brand of router; if IP is dynamic, then so is DNS. However, before I do I want to clarify some things: 1) The Open DNS Updater gives me a message saying my HTTP IP address and my DNS IP address is different and this is a problem.

However, even if I do set a static DNS, this will still be the case as my ISP gives the router one IP address and I'll still be setting the DNS address differently.
